"Fix My Choir" with Deitrick Haddon and Michelle Williams

“Fix My Choir” is a TV series which focuses on the intervention and makeovers of choirs. The show features gospel superstar Deitrick Haddon and Grammy Award-Winning recording artist Michelle Williams. They travel to different hometowns to mentor struggling choirs, community choirs or global groups to help them find perfect harmony with each other and their relationships and not just in music.

Throughout each episode, Michelle and Deitrick spend time with each choir to support by helping with core issues, leadership and interpersonal issues and any conflicts they may have.

Deitrick was asked how he would handle that one choir member who thinks he or she should sing lead, but yet they’re almost tone deaf and his response was, “Well, I would let them sing. I would let them sing, so the crowd could tell them if they like it or not and they’ll learn themselves by the response of that crowd. ... you know, and that’s how my dad would do us -- you know, my dad was the minister of music of the church. He was the pastor, the organist, everything in our church. And that’s the way he taught young people in our choir. You said you want to sing? Go ahead. We let you go and sing. And you get up and sing on Sunday. And the saints don’t move -- nobody’s moved or, you know, they’re looking at you crazy, doesn’t mean that’s not your calling.”

Michelle informs us about the variety of choirs. “It’s just not your church choir, your gospel choir, but there is a choir that we have on the show and they’re a barbershop choir. They have so many amazing beautiful harmonies and harmonies that make up amazing chords. You’ll definitely be able to see that. Then you’ll see some choirs where we are trying to teach them harmonies, but it’s just a struggle for them to retain the notes that we’re trying to teach them. So you’ll see choirs that are very advanced vocally and feels -- they might be advanced vocally, but they might just, you know, have attitude and then some choirs, you know, they might struggle in the harmony department, but they have great heart. So it’s like what do you do,” Michelle said.

Michelle and Deitrick are quite the perfect candidates for the job, as they both possess the talent, patience and the passion for what they are doing. Remember that “Fix My Choir” is on Oxygen, premiering on Wednesday, November 5th at 10:00 p.m.
