Celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo!
The Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo (BPIR) celebrates its 40th anniversary by returning to Texas on June 15th as part of the Texas Connection Series. This year's "Greatest Show on Dirt" coincides with Juneteenth festivities at the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth.
BPIR Highlights
Texas Juneteenth Event: The 3rd of 4 BPIR events in 2024 at Cowtown Coliseum.
Partnership with PBR: Partnered with Professional Bull Riders since 2019, enhancing BPIR's reach with CBS Television Network coverage.
Celebrity Ambassadors
The Juneteenth celebrations will feature:
Glynn Turman: Emmy Award-winning actor known for "A Raisin in the Sun," "Cooley High," "Queen Sugar," and more.
Reginald T. Dorsey: Actor-producer known for "21 Jump Street," "South Central," and "The Cherokee Kid."
These ambassadors will participate in the BPIR Opening Ceremonies and meet attendees.
Special Performances
Howard Johnson: The Voice of BPIR will perform the new rodeo-themed song “My Country” and the Black National Anthem.

Youth Retreat
The BPIR, in collaboration with the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo Foundation, hosted the first "Saddle Up with BPIRF" Summer Youth Retreat from June 10-15, 2024. Sponsored by a USDA grant, the retreat trained 36 students from eight states in agriculture, career opportunities, and essential life skills. These students will attend the 1:30 PM show of the BPIR Texas Juneteenth Rodeo.
