The American Black Film Festival Announced Winners of the 2024 Festival at the “Best of ABFF Awards”
The 2024 American Black Film Festival unveiled its standout achievers at the "Best of ABFF Awards" today. Highlights included Sulayman Tahir and Jordan Tortorello's "Peripheral," Vince Washington's stellar performance in "Young King," and Coke Daniels' directorial prowess in "The Waterboyz." Eric “Ptah” Herbert's "Train: The Dick Night Tran Lane Story" clinched Best Documentary, while "Unsolicited," crafted by Barshae Lowery, Aysia Moore, and Chazitear Martin, earned top honors in the series category.
Excitement peaked with a preview of NBC’s "Found" Season 2, presented by stars Gabrielle Walsh, Arlen Escarpeta, and showrunner Sonay Hoffman, drawing thunderous applause. Meanwhile, Walmart hosted a compelling panel, "Beyond the Screen: Black Dads Off Set," featuring insightful dialogue with Carl Jones, Devale Ellis, and Lance Gross, moderated by DJ Vaughn.
The evening reached its pinnacle with a tribute to Denzel Washington, marking ABFF’s inaugural career retrospective for the legendary actor. Washington captivated the audience with an exclusive look at his forthcoming Netflix project, "The Piano Lesson," and engaged in a heartfelt conversation with Chaz Ebert, celebrating his profound impact on and off-screen.
