AN INTERVIEW WITH CAST FROM THE SECOND SEASON OF BOUNCE TV'S “IN THE CUT"

Bounce TV, is recognized as being the nation’s fastest-growing broadcast television network, which is designed for African-American audiences, and the only emerging network producing original scripted series, will premiere an all-new second season of its popular sitcom In The Cut on Tuesday, July 5 at 9:00 pm ET/8:00 pm CT. The talented cast includes: Dorien Wilson, Kellita Smith, John Marshall Jones, Ken Lawson, and Bentley Kyle Evans (Creator & Producer).

“In The Cut” Summary: Entrepreneur Jay Weaver (Wilson) is a well-accomplished barber shop business owner. His life as a San Diego bachelor becomes disrupted, when he meets Kenny Clark (Lawson). However, Kenny turns out to be his 31-year-old illegitimate son, from a fling of the past. Kenny desires to get in on the family business; however, Jay experiences setbacks, while trying to keep up with Kenny’s life. The new season of In The Cut will follow this father-son duo, as they join in on a secret jail-break. Also, they will experience barber shop pranks, and not to mention Jay’s growing attraction to Cheryl (Kellita Smith), the new co-owner of the beauty salon next door.

Remarks by the Producer:

Everyone agreed this will be an amazing show. The cast is so excited about the new season. According to the Creator/Producer Bentley Kyle Evans, during the Tele-Conference, he mentioned that the barber shop is where men go to get their therapy. He also expressed that everyone is living the same parallel lifestyle. This production is really about individuals that happen to work at the Barber Shop. Bentley mentioned that he has been in a fortunately positive stage in his life for ten years. He likes shows that are not too complex; the simpler the show; the better according to Bentley. He likes to write simple situations that everyone can relate to. He informed everyone that he has been successful in getting his vision out there. He said, “When you are telling a story and you are a black man, for someone to tell you, you are not realistic, this is not a company he wants to work with.” However, he indicated that he has the freedom to tell the stories that will be around for generations to come and that is what he likes about Bounce TV. He still believes in family and family members can be friends and can work together, according to Bentley. He also informed media outlets, who are interested in getting their scriptwriting out on the market to just do it. Talented writers should “green-light” themselves, by putting something on paper and coming up with a solid concept and scripts already to be produced. He said, “if you are not experienced in scriptwriting (real story-telling), to watch a lot of television.”

Remarks by the Cast:

Dorien’s Character: “I have a lot of fun with this character. I own the barber shop with my ex-wife. I have a long lost son. We learn from each other; this new father and son relationship.”

Kellitta’s Character: “I have worked over 15 years in the theater. I am excited that I got a chance to play comedy again in this character.”

Ken Lawson: “I have worked with Bentley before on a couple of projects. I find a whole new life; I end up getting a divorce. I did not have a job, so I started back from the bottom. I am having so many women problems. This production is a fun way to bring everything together. We can use this show as a vehicle to mend relationships and still grow. It is a process.”

John Marshall Jones: “When Bentley brought me on to express the character as “Smitty,” I play the part as being handsome, smart, thoughtful, and compassionate. It is a joy to play this type of character to bring to a barber shop setting. I try to be a guide, where the audience will get pure, uninterrupted character (pure genius). The cast will deliver something solid.

Fuzionz Magazine Writer Sandra Robinson: “What can the viewers expect from Season 2?”

Response by Dorien: “Viewers can expect more of the fun. The show will have some incredible guest stars. Their characters are growing; with more of the meat and soul of the characters. The part about my new love interest will be amazing. It will definitely be a grown and sexy show.”

Closing Remarks by the Cast:

Everyone is so excited. The cast thanked the media outlets for their time and participation in the tele-conference. They reminded the media to get the word out about the new season, and to use the hash-tags #InTheCut, when communicating on social media, and to tweet their messages on Twitter, while watching the episodes. The cast reminded everyone to go to www.bouncetv.com or download the Bounce TV application. (Photo Credit: Courtesy of Bounce TV/JL Media PR)
