AWARD-WINNING JOURNALIST AND BLACK STAR NETWORK CEO ROLAND S. MARTIN DEBUTS FOUR NEW DIGITAL SHOWS

Award-winning journalist and CEO, of the newly-launched Black Star Network, Roland S. Martin, will launch four new shows, this week. The shows will premiere, just in time for Black History Month, on his OTT channel. Roland is, also, host of the daily digital program #RolandMartinUnfiltered. Black Star Network is one of the only 100% Black-owned OTT networks targeting African American consumers with politics, news and culture content.

With over two decades of broadcast, digital and print newsroom leadership, the renowned journalist has assembled a group of highly qualified experts and media personalities, to inform, inspire and entertain Black Star Network’s fast-growing audience. The line-up of news shows are as follows:

Airing every Monday, “Get Wealthy” hosted by Deborah Owens unearths the vital information that financial advisors and institutions often don’t share with their Black clientele… that they absolutely need to know. Viewers will gain valuable insights on improving their financial fitness by Owens, dubbed “America’s Wealth Coach.”

On Tuesday beginning this week at 11 a.m. ET, “A Balanced Life” with author, life coach and self-help expert Dr. Jacquie Hood Martin uplifts the audience to find alternatives for living a healthier lifestyle. Topics revolve around practical strategies to assist viewers in managing stress, finding ways to create better balance and embracing joy.

Also, premiering this week, every Tuesday at 3 p.m. ET is the new daily hot topics and pop culture series “The Culture with Farajii Muhammad.” This newsmagazine show flips the day’s headlines and offers the 28-year-old Muslim’s take on how everything from contemporary politics and entertainment affects our everyday lives.

On Friday mornings at 11 a.m. ET starting February 4, “The Black Table” with Dr. Greg Carr sends viewers into the weekend with a thought-provoking talk show from the Howard University professor, which deconstructs and analyzes Black issues that continue to deeply affect the community.

“There are so many viewpoints and perspectives in Black America, and our desire is to showcase them in an effort to inform, entertain, enlighten and educate our audience,” Martin said. “I’m excited to launch these shows, as well the next four shows we have in program development, which will debut later in 2022.”

Martin’s enthralling, one-hour talk show, #RollinWithRoland, will continue to roll out more in-depth conversations with a host of iconic Black entertainers and businesspeople, including Jeffrey Osborne, Richard Lawson, Glynn Turman, Bill Duke, Mario Van Peebles, Johnny Gill, Jackee, Michele Roberts, Richard Roundtree, and others.

As the nation continues to celebrate the contributions of Black Americans, in the month of February, during Black History Month, Martin will honor the ancestors by traveling to Liberia for their 200th bicentennial. From February 11-19, the four-time NAACP Image Award winner will take the network’s viewers on a journey to Liberia, Africa’s first republic, which was founded by freed slaves. He will broadcast from The Motherland, daily, and conduct a one-on-one interview with the nation’s president, George Weah.

“We often talk about people of African descent traveling and moving back to Africa today, but I’m excited to share the story of freed slaves in 1822 returning to a continent that they were removed from," noted Martin. "It’s vital that our viewers and listeners know about this fascinating piece of American and world history.”
