Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo (BPIR) Teams Up With PBR
Last weekend, the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo (BPIR) teamed up with the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) in Fort Worth, TX, to create an unforgettable western extravaganza. The PBR made waves with their Kid Rock Rodeo at the AT&T Stadium, hosting events from Friday through Sunday. Meanwhile, the BPIR attracted thousands of spectators to the Cowtown Coliseum on Saturday.
The BPIR event began with a breathtaking performance by national recording artist Howard Johnson at the BPIR Fort Worth Texas Connections Series. Johnson wowed the audience with renditions of "Last Train Home" by Pat Metheny, the Black National Anthem "Lift Every Voice and Sing," and a new Bill Pickett Rodeo anthem, "It's My Rodeo," leaving everyone spellbound.
James Pickens Jr., known for his role as Dr. Richard Webber on "Grey's Anatomy," received a standing ovation as he rode into the Cowtown Coliseum arena. A long-time supporter and Honorary Grand Marshal for the BPIR, Pickens, who has served as the Deputy Grand Marshal for 30 years, was greeted warmly by the enthusiastic crowd.
The rodeo featured fierce competition across nine events, with fast-paced action, impressive catches, thrilling rides, and dramatic misses. The Peewee division was the highlight, earning standing ovations and loud cheers as the young contestants showcased their talents. Winners from each event proudly took home their prizes, delighting both the crowd and themselves.
