Pro-Aging Influencer, Makeda Smith, Closes Women’s History Monthwith Book Release, “Flying Over 50 at Any Age”and Coaching Portal, “The Makeda Method”
Makeda Smith, a 63-year-old grandmother known for her dance flow movement practice, Flying Over 50, is expanding her brand. During Women’s History Month, she announced the release of her first book, "Flying Over 50 at Any Age, A 30-Day Self Journal for Speeding Past Limitations," on April 5, National Self Care Day. Additionally, she launched an online wellness portal, The Makeda Method, offering healing breathwork sessions, deep stretch yoga classes, and dance flow movement lessons, aimed at seniors.
When Makeda Smith began pole dancing as a fitness hobby 12 years ago, she had no idea it would change her life. Now, with international recognition for Flying Over 50, she's expanding her brand with a book release and an online wellness portal during Women’s History Month.
“Flying Over 50 at Any Age, A 30-Day Self Journal for Speeding Past Limitations” is a guide for navigating life’s holding patterns. Through daily motivation and introspection, readers are encouraged to reflect on their journey and find renewal.
“At 50, I hit rock bottom. But fitness saved me and led me to understand that aging is a celebration of life,” says Makeda. Her book and wellness portal, The Makeda Method, offer support for adults facing the challenges of aging, promoting practices for managing daily stress.
The Makeda Method offers wellness offerings for all ages, focusing on breathwork and deep stretch classes to enhance flexibility and reduce anxiety.
“Embracing senior citizenship can be overwhelming, but coaching can guide you toward self-care practices,” Makeda adds. She hopes to spread the message that aging is a blessing when approached with care.
