First Lady Michelle Obama To Visit St. Jude This Wednesday

The First Lady, Michelle Obama, will travel to Memphis, TN to visit children at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, on Wednesday, September 17, 2014. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is leading the way in which the world understands, treats, and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Their services, which included treatment, housing, travel, and food provided to patients free of charge.


St. Jude has the world’s best survival rates for some of the most aggressive childhood cancers. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90% in the next decade. Former First Ladies Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush, and Hillary Clinton also visited St. Jude during their time as First Lady. The First Lady will visit with St. Jude patients in the Activity Room. Later in the afternoon, the First Lady will tour the hospital and visit children receiving treatment.
