TV ONE ANNOUNCES PRODUCTION OF ORIGINAL FILM, BEHIND THE MOVEMENT

TV One will premiere an original film, Behind The Movement on Sunday, February 11 at 7 p. m. ET, as the centerpiece of its 2018 Black History presentation. The film stars Meta Golding, Loretta Devine, Isaiah Washington and Roger Guenveur Smith. Behind the movement is written by Katrina M. O'Gilvie, directed by Aric Avelino and produced by Swirl Films for TV One.

Behind The Movement is set during the Civil Rights era and takes a closer look at how Rosa Parks’ refusal to surrender her seat on a bus to a white passenger on December 1, 1955, led to the history-making of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. While Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a prominent leader of the Montgomery Bus Boycott, there was a chorus of lesser known heroes, including Rosa Parks, who planned the most successful boycott of its time, in three days. The made for television movie pays tribute to the contributions of these unsung heroes who worked behind the scenes to launch the significant protest and reveals the untold story of how a group of everyday people decided this incident was the right time to take a stand for their civil rights and demand equal treatment. The film will feature the actual bus that Rosa Parks' sat on.
